Abstract From the Canadian patent

A single pass ROS system provides a plurality of latent images which may subsequently be developed in different colors. The ROS units are initially aligned so that each color image is precisely registered at the same relative position along the exposed area of a photoreceptor belt. The alignment is accomplished by forming a pair of opposed alignment apertures in the surface of the belt and detecting coincidence or lack of coincidence of signals generated by the beginning and end of each scan line. Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 9, 1992 and granted June 1, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 9, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 9, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
