Abstract From the Canadian patent

An SAW resonator transducer is provided comprising a substrate on which interdigitated electrodes are deposited the electrodes, having a signal input and a signal output the transducer being, adapted for coupling at a given orientation on a member whose strain is to be measured. A driving signal is applied to the signal input of the transducer and an output resonant frequency is detected at the signal output of the transducer when it is driven by the driving signal. The output signal is processed to derive information as to the strain generated in the transducer induced by stress in the substrate due to stress applied to the substrate by way of a member to which the transducer is coupled.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 4, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 4, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 4, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
