A wireless communications network includes a local area network connected to a plurality of nodes which perform bidirectional wireless communication with mobile stations as controlled by a controller. Each node has a geographic area termed a cell, within which, mobile stations can communicate with the node associated with the cell. A cell interference graph is read into the controller, and a maximal independent set of nodes is determined. Each node in the maximal independent set of nodes are put in a set termed ACTIVE for performing wireless communication with mobile stations in their respective cells. Why it's free to use

  • Filed August 27, 1992 and granted May 5, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 27, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 27, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
