Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method for controlling the operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) process which utilizes gas turbine-driven refrigeration compressors is disclosed. A feedforward control system compensates for the effects of changes in ambient air temperature on the plant operating efficiency by periodically predicting a new temperature and resetting the set points of key feedback controllers in anticipation of this new temperature thereby, optimizing the operation of the plant and minimizing the specific fuel consumption at a given LNG production rate.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed July 24, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended July 24, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 24, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
