A top-entry check valve having a seat cage, disc and, removable bonnet utilizes threaded fasteners to prevent movement of the seat, cage and disc in the downstream direction. An annular shoulder in the valve body prevents movement of the seat cage and, disc in the upstream direction. The disc has a hinge pin which is cradled in hinge pin supports of the cage. Removal of the bonnet allows access to the valve chamber for replacement of the seat cage, disc or threaded fasteners.

Why it's free to use
- Filed July 22, 1992 and granted November 1, 1994. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended July 22, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 22, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
