Membranes of liposomes fixing biotin on membrane surfaces thereof can be lysed by a mixed agent comprising a surfactant and avidin. This mechanism can be applied to immunoassay for determining an analyte e.g. antigen or antibody, wherein liposomes encapsulating a marker and fixing biotin on membrane surfaces thereof are lysed depending on hindrance of an avidinbiotin binding reaction by a specific reaction caused by the analyte.

Why it's free to use
- Filed July 17, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended July 17, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 17, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
