Abstract From the Canadian patent

Described is an improved process for the preparation of fully methylolated, substantially fully etherified, and substantially monomeric tetramethoxymethylglycoluril useful as a crosslinking agent for powder coatings. The improved process adds after the conventional steps of methylolation and etherification the new steps of acidic distillation followed by an additional etherification.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed June 23, 1992 and granted September 17, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended June 23, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 23, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
