Abstract From the Canadian patent

Various immunologically active proteins from Borrelia burgdorferi have been prepared by genetic manipulation in microorganisms. To do this, the specific DNA sequences were selected from a B. burgdorferi gene bank using suitable screening methods, or were prepared directly by DNA amplification using selected hybridization probes, and were placed under the control of inducible promoters such as, for example the lac, promoter. It has been possible owing to description of, efficient purification methods for the expressed antigens, to provide the proteins in a suitable way. These proteins can be used to produce specific and sensitive diagnostic assay kits. The specific combination of the …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 21, 1990 and granted January 28, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 21, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 21, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
