Avermectin compounds are glycosylated the 4' and 4"-positions by adding the avermectin compounds to the fermentation medium of Saccharapolyspora erythera. The outer oleandrose sugar group of the avermectin compound is glycosylated with a glycosyl moiety, specifically a glucose group. In addition other changes are effected in the avermectin moiety such as selective hydroxylation, epimerization at the 2-carbon and migration of the .DELTA. 3-double bond to a .DELTA. 2-position.

Why it's free to use
- Filed June 18, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended June 18, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 18, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
