Abstract From the Canadian patent

Abstract of the Disclosure A thin film battery is disclosed based on the use of ceramic membrane technology. The battery includes a pair of conductive collectors on which the materials for the anode and the cathode may be spin coated. The separator is formed of a porous metal oxide ceramic membrane impregnated with electrolyte so that electrical separation is maintained while ion mobility is also maintained. The entire battery can be made less than 10 microns thick while generating a potential in the 1 volt range.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed June 17, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended June 17, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 17, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
