Abstract From the Canadian patent

An improved surgical clip having first and second leg members joined at their proximal ends by resilient hinge means and terminating at their distal ends in latch means. Each leg member has an outer surface and a clamping inner surface, and the outer surface of each leg member is configured to be accepted by the jaws of the clip applier. The improvement in the clip design specifically relates to the dimensions of each leg member. Each leg member is defined by a ratio of the length of the clamping inner surface to the width of the leg member of no greater than 2Ø, ETH-813

Why it's free to use

  • Filed June 16, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended June 16, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 16, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
