Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method for improving the aging resistance of the sidewalls of retreaded tires is provided. The method involves the steps of treating the surface of the sidewalls of the worn tire to be retreaded with an aqueous solution or dispersion containing a film-forming polymer and an antiozonant retreading, the treated tire and then curing the treated retreaded tire thereby causing the antioxidant to migrate into the inner portion of the sidewall. The method of the invention is particularly useful for improving the aging resistance of the sidewalls of worn truck and bus tires which are conventionally retreaded several times.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 29, 1992 and granted August 18, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 29, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 29, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
