Abstract From the Canadian patent

Pointers are normally used in classrooms or instructional settings to draw attention to material displayed on a screen. In this invention the pointer has a light source close to its tip, controlled by the operator, to improve the effectiveness of the pointer in drawing attention to a particular point or or area on a screen. Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 26, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended May 26, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 26, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
