Abstract From the Canadian patent

An edging mill has a pair of vertical rolls which are rotatably supported in cassettes which are supported by respective movable housings, the housings can be moved towards and away from each other and the cassettes can be moved horizontally with respect to the housings. Each roll is rotated from a rotatable horizontal shaft which extends below the roll by way of a drive mechanism which includes a universal joint which permits the roll to be rotated even when the cassette is displaced away from its housing.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 6, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended September 6, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 6, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
