A process for the production of a pollutant-free particulate carbon (i.e. a substantially ash-, sulfur- and nitrogen-free carbon) from carbonaceous feedstocks (21). The basic process involves deoxygenating one of the gas streams formed in a cyclic hydropynolysis (10) methane pyrolysis (34) process in order to improve conversion of the initial carbonaceous feedstock. De-oxygenation is effected by catalytically converting carbon monoxide carbon , dioxide, and hydrogen contained in one of the pyrolysis, gas streams (44), preferably the latter to a methanol co-product. There are , thus produced two products whose use is known perse viz.; a substantially pollutant-free particulate carbon black …

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 18, 1990 and granted August 27, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 18, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 18, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
