The process includes the first step of passing the sulphur oxides-containing offgas, through a fixed bed of a sulphur oxide adsorbent. The sulphur oxide adsorbent has, catalytic activity for the oxidation of sulphur oxides to sulphur trioxide and comprises, a mixture of vanadium pentoxide and pyrosulphates of one or more alkali metals which, is supported on a porous carrier at a temperature from 250 ° C to 400C ° . The sulphur, oxides which are adsorbed on the adsorbent are then converted to sulphur trioxide to, provide a sulphur trioxide-loaded adsorbent. The sulphur trioxide-loaded adsorbent is, …

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 22, 1992 and granted February 20, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 22, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 22, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
