A layer-type transition metal dichalcogenide in the form of single molecular thickness platelets. The platelets are connected together so edges of each platelet adjoin basal planes of adjacent platelets. There are voids between the platelets. The composition is produced by exfoliating the transition metal dichalcogenide with an alkaline metal in an aqueous solution, lowering the pH of the suspension until aflocculant is formed and then separating the flocculant from the liquid.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 22, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended May 22, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 22, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
