Abstract From the Canadian patent

The method includes determining the Power Spectral Density from the output of an accelerometer in close proximity to the restriction orifice controlling the gas flow, or determining the Power Spectral Density from the output of a pressure transducer in contact with the gas flow on the down stream side of the restriction orifice. The liquid flow can then be obtained from a predetermined correlation between the RMS Vibrational Signal and the mass or liquid flow rate.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 22, 1992 and granted October 16, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 22, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 22, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
