An improved separator for use in separating aluminum and plastic articles from an entraining closed loop air stream includes an inlet duct emptying a high speed stream into an enlarged chamber. The stream velocity is reduced by the chamber allowing articles to fall out through an air lock while the so-purged air stream is returned to the inlet of the closed loop blower for lifting plastic and aluminum away from the glass articles. A porous conveyor may be used to further purge the air stream of very lightweight articles, such as paper articles and plastic film, bags and the like.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 19, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended May 19, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 19, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
