A phased array for transmitting to a microwave powered aircraft is focused and steered by feedback from the aircraft. Each antenna of the array is phase modulated in turn, and the resulting amplitude modulation of the field at the aircraft is used to calculate a correction to the antenna phase, which is telemetered back to the array system and applied to the antenna phase shifter.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 8, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended May 8, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 8, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
