Abstract From the Canadian patent

The purpose of the invention is an improved process for injecting and transporting small-sized particles in a natural porous medium. The process is characterized by a first phase wherein the porous medium is conditioned with an aqueous solution containing a hydrocarbonic polymer or surfactant compound, a second involving injection of a plug of particles suspended in an aqueous solution containing at least one hydrocarbonic polymer or surfactant compound, and a third wherein the plug of particles is propelled by a suitable aqueous medium. The process is notably useful for establishing bacteria in a porous medium.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 9, 1990 and granted October 7, 1997. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended November 9, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 9, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
