Abstract From the Canadian patent

In an optical output device wherein a beam of light is generated and focused to a spot upon an image plane, such as a photoreceptor in a xerographic printingapparatus an apparatus for controlling the position of the spot in the slow scan direction of the image plane including a light source capable of emitting the beam of light at a selected one of at least two selectable wavelengths and beam deflecting means for deflecting the beam of light an amount which depends on the wavelength of the beam of light, the amount of deflection determining the position of the spot in the slow scan direction on the image plane. The light source may be of the solid state laser type, and may emit a plurality …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 6, 1992 and granted February 24, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 6, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 6, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
