Abstract From the Canadian patent

A stringer lamp assembly in which conductors extending upwardly from lamp sockets are connected at spaced intervals to an elongated bus formed by a pair of open and unjacketed conductors. The conductive wires of the unjacketed conductors are spliced to the conductive wires of a jacketed power cord having a male connector plug. In order to improve the mechanical integrity and weather resistance of the splice, the latter is encapsulated in plastic which is molded into the shape of a generally rectangular block. The splice block may be hung from a messenger wire which serves to support the lamp sockets.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 6, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended May 6, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 6, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
