Abstract From the Canadian patent

An improved replaceable carbon rupture disk element and element-holder assembly are provided. The carbon rupture disk element is comprised of a carbon disk having a pair of opposing bores extending thereinto whereby an integral blowout portion having a particular rupture pressure is formed in the disk connected to an enlarged rim portion. A reinforcing ring is attached to the rim of the carbon disk having a height substantially equal to or greater than the height of the enlarged rim portion of the disk which prevents the rim portion from being subjected to compressive forces which change the rupture pressure of the blow-out portion.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed April 24, 1992 and granted September 20, 1994. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 24, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 24, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
