Abstract From the Canadian patent

A multivalent antigen-binding protein comprises a first Fv fragment bound to at least one further Fv fragment by a connecting structure which links the Fv fragments to each other but which maintains them spaced apart such that the protein is capable of binding to adjacent antigenic determinants. Typically the connecting structure comprises a spacing polypeptide sequence which may be, about 3 to 16 amino acids in length connected to a linkage unit, which may be a synthetic chemical linker e.g. a maleimide linker, or is a polypeptide sequence leading from the spacing sequence. Why it's free to use

  • Filed June 11, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended June 11, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 11, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
