Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method of concentrating solids in an aqueous clay slurry (15) is disclosed wherein liquid in the slurry is removed by contacting the aqueous clay slurry (15) with a semi-permeable membrane (80), preferably by passing the dilute aqueous slurry (15) of beneficiated kaolin along a surface of a semi-permeable membrane (80), while imposing a pressure differential across the membrane surface whereby water molecules are caused to pass through said semipermeable membrane (80) which is substantially impervious to the passage of clay solids therethrough, but pervious to the passage of water molecules, ions and dissolved salts therethrough. Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 31, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 31, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 31, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
