A glass tube (31) from which optical fiber is to be drawn is heated by a torch assembly comprising a plurality of nozzles (54-54) disposed on a carriage. In order to avoid contamination of the tube by particles of the torch assembly resulting from thermal degradation the, nozzles are disposed in a plane which is normal to an axis (36) of the tube with each nozzle axis inclined so that flame fronts associated with the nozzles are substantially closer to the tube than to the torch assembly. Why it's free to use
- Filed March 26, 1992 and granted April 21, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 26, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 26, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
