Abstract From the Canadian patent

There are disclosed a catalyst which comprises a specific transition-metal compound (A) and a specific coordination complex compound (B) instead of aluminoxane and, a process for producing a styrene polymer at a reduced cost with improved efficiency by the use of the above catalyst. The catalyst according to the present invention is inexpensive compared with the conventional catalyst containing aluminoxane as the major ingredient and exhibits, a high activity in the polymerization of a styrenic monomer into styrene polymer with a high degree of syndiotacticity as well as a high yield and conversion rate.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 25, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 25, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 25, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
