Eddy current based method and apparatus uses a repetitive square wave signal applied to an excitation coil and operates in a pulse echo mode by gating the detected field signal at synchronised intervals to generate one or more sequences of like gated slices obtained from respective detector positions on a circular scan path. Suitable time gating to exclude surface and near-surface reflections overcomes surface clutter and flaws are detected by examination of the sequence of slices for characteristic changes in level. Why it's free to use
- Filed July 13, 1990 and granted September 11, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended July 13, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 13, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
