Abstract From the Canadian patent

Disclosed is an ornament with a thin film formed on the ornament surface. The thin film includes a fluorocarbonbased adsorbed monomolecular film, and the thin film is covalently bonded to the ornament. By contacting the ornament with the non-aqueous solution containing a chlorosilane group at one end and a fluorocarbon chain at the other end a, reaction occurs between hydroxyl groups at the ornament surface and the chlorosilyl groups of the material having a plurality of chlorosilyl groups. Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 29, 1992 and granted January 18, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 29, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 29, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
