A computer has two processors. A main processor operates under the control of an operating system and provides overall control of the computer for executing application programs. The main processor also assists in power management by executing certain interrupts and controlling a power control register to turn power on and off to various devices. A power management processor monitors ambient temperature and humidity and battery, conditions, and generates interrupts as a result of predetermined changes. Such processor also controls charging of the battery. Logic means are responsive to predetermined conditions to also generate interrupts.

Why it's free to use
- Filed January 10, 1992 and granted May 3, 1994. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 10, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 10, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
