The lining comprises a two-sided textile layer of thermostable fibres; a waterproof but breathable film is spot-glued to one side of the textile layer of thermostable fibres and is intended to be in contact with the outer layer of the garment. The lining also comprises a reinforced non-woven fabric which is mechanically bonded to the other side of the thermostable textile layer in order to serve as the inner layer of the garment. For a comparable quantity of thermostable material this lining has properties superior to those obtained with the use of one or more inserts while making assembly very simple and thus reducing costs. It also has considerable resistance to abrasion and pilling.

Why it's free to use
- Filed January 7, 1992 and granted April 21, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 7, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 7, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
