Apparatus adapted to provide electrophoresis current sheets in opposite longitudinal directions of an electrophoresis plate is disclosed. The apparatus is designed to work with an existing automatic electrophoresis machine which performs all electrophoresis processing, scanning and densitometer functions automatically under computer control. The apparatus of the invention re-routes the normal polarity of electrodes of the automatic electrophoresis machine into a configuration such that a center electrode bar has positive electric potential applied to it and two end electrodes have negative electrical potential applied to them.

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 23, 1991 and granted March 30, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 23, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 23, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
