A magnetic recording system records information on a magnetic recording medium having a perpendicular magnetization component by using a ring head. The system includes means for causing the magnetic field strength on a leading side of the ring head to have a difference from the magnetic field strength on a trailing side of the ring head. The system achieves high-density recording equivalent to the perpendicular magnetic recording and also processes, the reproduced waveform by use of a simplifed waveform processing device.

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 12, 1991 and granted July 20, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 12, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 12, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
