A lipase or lipase isozyme from Candida rugosa is used to stereoselectively hydrolyze esters esterify acids, or transesterify esters in aqueous/organic systems. Esters of 2-substituted acids such as 2-(4-hydroxyphenoxy) propionic acid, where the acid is not substituted at the 2position with halogen, are hydrolyzed at high enantiomeric excess in the presence of an organic solvent. A reducing agent may be present to prevent oxidation of the acid and its esters. Two lipase isozymes are purified from Candida rugosa by ion exchange chromatography or isoelectric focusing, and are used for stereoselective hydrolysis of esters, esterification of acids or transesterification of esters. The lipase or …

Why it's free to use
- Filed June 1, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended June 1, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 1, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
