Abstract From the Canadian patent

The present invention relates to a pinch valve which closes the passage of the soft tube by pressing a slider provided so as to advance into and retract from a housing against a part of the soft tube located within the housing. The slider is provided with a detachable engaging member. The engaging member engages with a part of the housing to position the slider so that the slider is not pressed against a normally closed soft tube. This provision is used to prevent the soft tube from plastic deformation and damage in a non operational condition of the valve.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 22, 1991 and granted November 8, 1994. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended November 22, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 22, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
