A b s t r a c t, The invention relates to an improved process for the preparation of a piperazine derivative of the formula (I) (I), wherein R stands for a hydrogen atom or a methyl group or a, salt thereof. According to the invention an amine compound of the formula (II), (II), is reacted with a compound of the formula (III) (III), in which R is as defined above, or with an acid addition salt thereof.
