A video signal recording system is disclosed which includes a circuit for generating a control signal representative of the level of the high frequency portion of a full bandwidth luminance signal. An adaptive deemphasis circuit reduces the level of the high frequency portion of the luminance signal in response to the control signal. A folding circuit folds the high frequency portion of the deemphasized luminance signal into the low frequency portion. The folded deemphasized luminance is combined with the control signal and recorded on the video tape. A video signal playback system is disclosed which includes a circuit for separating the previously recorded control signal from the …

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 25, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 25, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 25, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
