Abstract From the Canadian patent

Abstract, A method and apparatus are disclosed for replenishing metal ions in an electrolyte depleted of the metal ions. A preferred example is replenishing tin in the electrolyte of an electrolytic tinning apparatus having an insoluble anode. The electrolyte thus becomes depleted of tin in the electrotinning process. The replenishment apparatus comprises an electrolytic cell including a tin anode a, cathode, and an electrolyte chamber for the tin anode and the cathode. The cathode is a gas diffusion electrode. An electrical circuit, usually having additional circuit resistance but free of connection to an external power source, connects the anode to the cathode. The electrolyte chamber has …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 25, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 25, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 25, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
