Method and apparatus for manufacturing thread gages (141 143), and gaging pipe pins (145) and boxes (144) in which the pins and boxes are marked at circumferentially and axially located points (146, 147, 148) with the thread systems made-up to a selected degree and matching of the marks will indicate make-up of the product thread systems to the selected degree or the selected degree plus additional make-up and the system automatically compensates for variations from nominal dimensions.
