Abstract From the Canadian patent

A thin glass film is produced by a sol-gel method comprising forming a hydrolyzable solution that contains a metal alkoxide, water, an alcohol and an acid contacting the, applied solution with an atmosphere containing ammonia to polycondensate the metal alkoxide, and heating it to form a thin glass film. The process enables thicker glass films to be formed on a substrate than has previously been possible.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 22, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 22, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 22, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
