56,362, ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE, A liquid cooled electric generating apparatus is provided with a liquid circulation system that is divided into two portions. One of the portions includes a rotor mounted in a rotor cavity such that rotation of the rotor expels liquid from that portion of the circulation system. A normally open valve connects the two portions of the liquid circulation system. This valve is automatically closed during filling of the portion of the liquid circulation system which does not contain the rotor cavity. Both the liquid circulation system of the generating apparatus and the method of filling the system are encompassed by this invention.

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 15, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 15, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 15, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
