An anti-reflective coating employing Si1-xHx as a high refractive index material in a film pair together with SiO2 as a low refractive index material is found to be substantially transparent to visible light and to provide good anti-reflectance where the Si1-xHx film is ultra-thin, preferably less than about 80 Angstroms and, the thickness of the SiO2 film is matched to that of the Si1-XHx film. Laminated glazing units having such antireflective film can be used, for example even in, applications requiring high transmittance of visible light, such as motor vehicle windshields in view of the, substantial transparency of the coating.

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 9, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 9, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 9, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
