Abstract From the Canadian patent
The invention relates to a method for stabilizing a detonable mixture of emulsion and AN or ANFO prills. If the mixture involves ANFO prills, the steps comprise dissolving a surfactant in a liquid organic fuel prior to adding the fuel to AN prills, adding the fuel containing the dissolved surfactant to the AN prills to form ANFO prills and blending the ANFO prills with an emulsion to form a stable explosive composition. If AN prills are used, the steps include adding the surfactant to the prills and then mixing them with the emulsion. The compositions of the invention comprise stabilized emulsion explosives having a mixture of AN or ANFO prills and emulsion wherein the AN prills contain a …

Why it's free to use
- Filed September 24, 1991 and granted January 11, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 24, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 24, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
