Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method and apparatus are disclosed for preparing and printing pen-stroke image information on a raster-type output device. The image is first vectorized, then given one of a number of slope classifications. For vertical vectors (210) and vectors within a predetermined angle of the vertical, only every n'th dot (214) on the vector is printed. For vectors in the next slope class closer to the horizontal (220), every (n/2)'th dot (224) is printed. For vectors in the next slope class closer to the horizontal (230) dots nk, nk + m2, and nk + m1 (234) are printed where k is, any integer, m2 is n/4, and m1 is n/2. For dots in the next slope class closer to the horizontal (240) every (n/4)'th …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 26, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended February 26, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 26, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
