Abstract From the Canadian patent

A superconducting device comprises a substrate having a projection formed in a principal surface and an oxide superconductor thin film formed to cover the projection formed in the principal surface and having a substantially planar surface. The oxide superconductor thin film includes a thinned portion positioned on the projection a first thick, portion positioned at one side of the projection and a second thick portion, positioned at the other side of the projection so that a superconducting, current can flow between the first thick portion and the second thick portion through the thinned portion of the oxide superconductor thin film. Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 5, 1991 and granted March 18, 1997. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 5, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 5, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
