Abstract From the Canadian patent

A bottom-incidence type photo-sensing device has a pn junction, as a photo-sensing region formed by, selectively providing a first region of a second conductivity type in a portion of a semiconductive layer of a first conductivity type. The first region is surrounded by a second region of the second conductivity type formed in the semiconductive layer and the second region is of the same or larger depth as or than that of the first region. Even when a light is directed to outside of the photo-sensing region extra, charges generated therein are absorbed by the second region and the flow of the extra charges into the photo-sensing region is prevented.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed August 30, 1991 and granted January 5, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 30, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 30, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
