Abstract From the Canadian patent

In a method of separating bacteria from a bacteria containing liquid sample, a dish-like centrifuge container (21) having an upper opening (25) defined by a radially inwardly extending rim portion (24) is employed. A volume of a gradient separation component of a density approximately identical to the average density of the bacteria is introduced into the centrifuge container which the , centrifuge container is rotating so that a separation layer (60), is formed within the centrifuge container (21). The liquid sample is introduced into the centre of the centrifuge container at a fairly high discharge rate. The liquid is thrown outwardly from the centre of the centrifuge container and into …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 22, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended February 22, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 22, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
