A capacitive type, multi-electrode inclination sensor device (20) utilizes a conductive fluid (26) acting as a common capacitive electrode contained within a cylindrical cavity (24). Two or more coplanar sensor electrodes (21A-21D) are covered by a thin dielectric film (22) and are mounted on an end wall (32) of the cavity (24). Each insulated electrode (21A,-21 D) forms one plate of a capacitive element with the conductive fluid (26) forming the other plate. The geometry of the sensor electrodes is such that for a given physical position of the device (such as level or plumb) equal , conductive fluid coverage of a given pair of sensor electrodes occurs, yielding two identical value …

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 20, 1990 and granted August 28, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 20, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 20, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
