Abstract From the Canadian patent

A blood pressure cuff (10) formed by a cylindrical envelope (14) of flexible, non-resilient, air-impermeable material. The envelope is divided into two circumferentially spaced sections (40 42) , that are isolated from each other thereby forming two separate bladders (40, 42) each of which may be separately inflated. One bladder (40) is inflated to snug the cuff (10) around the arm of a patient while the other bladder (42) is used to make a blood pressure measurement in a conventional manner.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 20, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 20, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 20, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
